2024 Masters Betting Odds
We have to begin this article with a look at the 2024 Masters betting odds. Of course, the field is stacked with the world’s best players, including those from LIV. Among the entire bunch, these players are most favored at the top golf betting sites:
Golfer | |||
---|---|---|---|
Scottie Scheffler | +450 | +450 | +450 |
Rory McIlroy | +1100 | +1100 | +1100 |
Jon Rahm | +1100 | +1100 | +1100 |
Xander Schauffele | +1400 | +1400 | +1400 |
Brooks Koepka | +1800 | +1800 | +1800 |
Hideki Matsuyama | +2000 | +2000 | +2000 |
Jordan Spieth | +2500 | +2500 | +2500 |
We’ll be honest: Scheffler’s odds take us back a little. Yes, he’s the best player on the planet right now but +450 odds to win still feels too short to us. The field is too competitive to warrant those types of odds. Plus, whoever entered as the Masters betting favorite has failed to win the event for the past 18 years so history is against Scheffler. We think there’s better betting value elsewhere, and we’ll tell you where next.
Masters Outright Winner Bet
Is the Masters outright winner bet easy? Heck no, but to workshop an old JFK quote, “we bet it not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.” Hard, and lucrative to be exact. Seriously, the money is too good on this bet not to throw some money on it. With that said, here are the two golfers commanding our money here:
Rory McIlroy
McIlroy, one of the best golfers in the modern era, has done it all except one thing: win the green jacket. With a win at Augusta, McIlroy becomes the sixth golfer to win the modern grand slam. The issue is, he hasn’t won a major tournament in 10 years even whilst he’s remained a world-class golfer during that drought.
That ain’t stopping us from picking him here though. Why? Because McIlroy has been knocking on the door at this event just about every year. He has seven top-10 finishes at Augusta National over the last decade. So if you’re hesitant to bet him straight up, at least take a prop on him to finish top-10 or even top-5. We’re quite confident McIllroy will at least be in the hunt.
However, we’re picking him to win straight up off the back of a third-place finish at the Valero Texas Open last weekend. McIlroy has started 2024 slow, but that outing gives us confidence he’s back to normal AND on the upswing. This warrants a straight-up bet in our book.
Brooks Koepka
With these majors, we like throwing money on at least one LIV player. Since the PGA doesn’t officially operate these four events, LIV players are allowed to participate (they’re banned from PGA-sponsored events). That means LIV players are extra motivated to “stick it” to the Tour. Of the LIV bunch, we’re nostalgic behind Koepka.
Most bettors and fans don’t even follow LIV Golf, and that might be a good thing in this case. See, Koepka is having a down year in the Saudi-backed league. He has only one top-10 finished and finished T45 last time out. But like McIlroy, Koepka has a good track history at Augusta.
A year ago at Augusta, Koepka held the 36 and 54-hole leads before floundering into second place. It’s the second time Koepka has finished runner-up at the Masters. Not only that, but Koepka is just a gamer at majors where has more wins (five) than regular PGA events (four). He also has multiple top-6 finishes at majors each year since 2017 aside from one (2020, where he missed two of the four events). These types of performances give us more than enough confidence in taking Kopeks here.
Tiger Woods Special Bet
Woods makes his highly-anticipated return to the sport this weekend. We won’t dare bet him to win the event or even finish in the top-10. However, Tiger’s betting line to make the cut is a comfy +100. Worth it?
This bet hinges entirely on Wood’s health. Can he even finish the tourney in the first place? Remember, a year ago, his back troubles forced him out of the Masters early. In six starts since 2022, Woods has withdrawn from events three times.
Early reports say that Woods is in better shape this time around. That, plus Augusta being his specialty course, make us confident in betting yes, Woods makes the cut after two days. Put some money on a comeback here.
