It's hard to believe that we're this far into the WNBA season, but we have seen some incredible play thus far. Entering the new campaign, a lot of the focus has gone to Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese, two rookies who are coming off brilliant careers in the college game. They're still making a ton of noise, which is great to see, but they're not on teams that will be pushing for the title. With that said, the Las Vegas Aces are the favorites to win the 2024 WNBA Finals. Will they get the job done?
The Aces are of course led by star playmakers A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. Wilson is leading the way with her 28 points per contest, while Plum is averaging right around 19 points per game. Both players can knock down shots from all over the hardwood and whenever they catch fire, watch out. As good as they are on offense, they also hustle with a ton of passion on the defensive side of the ball too. That's why the Aces have been looking so strong this campaign - they're also hoping to repeat.

“Now, hopefully people can look and see that we’re not a superteam. We’ve never been a superteam,” Wilson said of this Las Vegas squad. “It’s one of those things where we’re like, ‘We told you so.’ We just have great players that put the work in and we’ve been putting the work in for a long time together. But when it comes to loading teams and ring chasing and all that, that’s never been us.”
According to the best sports betting sites, which includes the reliable Bovada sportsbook review, the Aces hold +170 WNBA betting odds to win the Finals this season. The Aces entered the year with the top basketball odds and nothing has changed there thanks to Wilson and Plum. While we wouldn't be shocked if they won it all, we're actually going in a different direction for who we think will capture the glory.

The New York Liberty are our pick to win the WNBA Finals
As good as the Aces are, there's a reason the New York Liberty are our pick to win the WNBA Finals. New York also has a great duo of their own, with Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu leading the way. Stewart is posting 18.6 points per game, while Ionescu is adding 17.6 points. Not to be forgotten, Jonquel Jones is also averaging nearly 17 points per outing, which is fantastic to see.

Stewart previously played for the Seattle Storm and she won multiple titles with the Pacific Northwest side. Headlines were made when she left town and signed with the Liberty. Stewart is on the back end of her career, but she continues to prove that she's one of the best players in the league. She has been great for the Liberty this year and her strong level of play will surely continue once the postseason arrives. That will be the case for Ionescu and Jones too.
Per the oddsmakers, the Liberty are right behind the Aces with their +190 basketball betting odds. A lot of people are hoping that these two teams will go on to meet in the WNBA Finals. Should that happen, we wouldn't be surprised at all if that series went the distance. Both teams are loaded with talent and they have great coaching too. It will be interesting to see how the season shapes out, but we're indeed going with the Liberty as our pick. Yup, we think they'll end up going back-to-back as champs.
A'ja Wilson is no question our pick for WNBA MVP
While we do think the Liberty will win the title over the Aces, A'ja Wilson is no question our pick for WNBA MVP. What Wilson has been able to do so far this season has been nothing short of sensational. Wilson is scoring 28 points per game, but she's also adding 11.5 rebounds a night as well. For her to post a double-double whenever she takes the hardwood is awesome to see and it's a big reason why Las Vegas is a serious contender to win it all.
Last season, the Aces took down the Liberty in the WNBA Finals and now New York surely has revenge in mind. However, Wilson and the rest of her Las Vegas teammates are going to do whatever is needed to make sure that doesn't happen. It's not going to be easy, but with how great Wilson and Plum are looking, plenty of people all over Sin City think there's a great chance that's going to end up happening.
We'll find out this fall, but regardless of how the season turns out, Wilson will no question be among the top players in the league once everything is wrapped up. Wilson is still in the prime of her career and she's been a pleasure to watch. She holds +240 betting odds to be named WNBA MVP this year and we're pretty confident she'll be able to make things happen. She's our MVP pick and there's simply no doubt about that.
