Mayweather vs. Paul Betting Picks

Mayweather vs. Paul Betting Picks

Two of the most polarizing figures on the Internet today — Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Logan Paul — will do battle inside a boxing ring. The circus-like event is guaranteed to draw eyes and bettors alike. Here’s your complete guide to gambling on the event, including picks to win big!

In the last three months, boxing has received a shot in the arm from the unlikeliest of sources — a pair of YouTube brothers and retired athletes. That recipe for success is on top here again, as arguably the greatest in-ring general ever, Floyd "Money" Mayweather", is coming out of retirement to face off against social media influencer Logan Paul (the older brother of Jake). Ahead of the spectacle, here's a complete primer to making the best Mayweather vs. Paul betting picks available.

Online sportsbooks have opened odds and as you'd imagine, Mayweather is a staggering favorite across the board:

Logan Paul+900+900+895

It's worth pointing out, Paul is getting roughly the same odds that Conor McGregor received against "Money May" four years ago — the last official boxing match on Mayweather's record. Take that as you will. Either Mayweather has regressed in four years (plausible) or an online entertainer is a legit better fighter than a former UFC champion (doubtful).

But forget speculating, let's dive deeper into the retiree versus YouTuber, ahem, Mayweather vs. Paul matchup, and see what's worth wagering on.

Tale of The Tape

On one side of the ring, we have a 26-year-old prizefighter that stands at 6-foot-2 and walks around at 200 pounds or so. His opponent is an entire six inches shorter and 50 pounds lighter, and also 18 years his senior.

Based on that alone, you'd guess the younger and bigger fighter has a clear upper hand. Such would be the case if not for in-ring experience.

The 44-year-old just so happens to be Mayweather — arguably the G.O.A.T. of the sport. "Money May" is a perfect 50-0 with wins against a whose-who of fight legends including Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, and yes, even McGregor.

The young guy is Paul, who holds a winless career mark of 0-1-1 (both fights came against fellow YouTuber, KSI). Don't confuse Logan with his brother, Jake, who is fresh off two cold-blooded knockouts of Nate Robinson (retired NBA player) and Ben Askren (retired MMA fighter). It's clear Logan is the less talented of the two siblings fight-wise.

But hey, for what Logan lacks in boxing prowess, he makes up for in social media followers. He's up to 23 million subscribers on YouTube and another 19 million followers on Instagram, which should make this a box-office attraction against the most-bought fighter in history, Mayweather.

The fight will be classified as an "exhibition." Details on the rounds — both the time limit and how many in total — are mum. The only rule known currently is that Logan must come into the fight weighing under 190 pounds and Mayweather below 160

Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida will host the circus come June 6, which is actually a Sunday, not the usual Saturday.

Who Wins?

Mayweather, of course. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. While there's never a sure thing when it comes to sports betting — this is as close as it gets.

If all-time greats like Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Juan Manuel Marquez couldn't beat Mayweather, what makes you think Paul — who's fought for all of two years before — can?

The only reasonable argument in favor of Paul is Mayweather's age. But then again, is Paul actually skillful enough to make Mayweather pay for his slipping athleticism? Probably not.

At least when McGregor (the closest comparison to Paul) fought Mayweather, you could entertain the debate that "Mystic Mac" had one-hit power that could stun Mayweather at any point. But no such thing exists for Paul, who looks and competes like your everyday gym goer — fit but nothing spectacular.

We're not kidding you when we say if Paul were to somehow defeat Mayweather, it would be the biggest upset in all of sports history. Are you willing to take that one-in-a-million chance?

We sure hope not. If you want to burn your money, then be our guest. But no reasonable bettor would wager a dollar on Paul over Mayweather. Seriously, an upset isn't happening, folks.

Get More Value From Props

Look, you saw the odds at the start of the article, there's little money to be made betting Mayweather straight up. His odds are just too steep to provide any real value for bettors. The prop market is your better bet to reap the profits.

BetOnline is offering a handful of fight props, but two, in particular, stand out to us from a value standpoint:

  • Will Logan Paul be knocked out — Yes (-200) or No (+150)
  • Will the fight go the distance — Yes (-175) or No (+135)

To answer these two, let's reference the McGregor bout again. In that one, Mayweather won via TKO in the tenth round. Do we really believe Paul can outdo McGregor's performance?

No way. That leads us to believe yes, Logan will be knocked out and no, the fight won't go to the judge's scorecard. Heck, we're so confident in both outcomes that we think this is worthy of a parlay. Throw in a Mayweather moneyline win to make it a three-leg ticket and really cash in the most money possible from this circus show.

Welp, there you have it. If you're looking for an online bookmaker to lock in your Mayweather-Paul bets, take a gander at the list below. Each of these sportsbooks holds its weight in terms of on-site features, quality of betting prices, and yes, promotions.

Speaking of which, thanks to sign-up bonuses, first-time bettors can make guaranteed money long before Mayweather and Paul ever meet in the ring. The table below has details on what bonuses are currently available to new bettors. As you can see, it's no chump-change offers either!
