Miss Universe 2019 Preview: Betting Odds & Picks

Miss Universe 2019 Preview: Betting Odds & Picks

The biggest and most beautiful pageant is back for its 2019 affair. Of course, we’re talking about Miss Universe. Drawing contestants from 90-plus countries around the world, which lady will win the crown next? We have a preview to the event right here, with the latest odds and a free betting pick!

Online sportsbooks have released wagering lines for the Miss Universe 2019 beauty pageant and the two top betting favorites currently are as follows:

  • Thailand (+300)
  • Philipines (+500)

Before you throw a hissy fit about Miss Universe not being a real sport, don't forget this bet could qualify you for a big sign-up bonus worth hundreds of dollars in free play So why get picky when free money is a stake?

Outside the previously-mentioned top two contenders, the following countries are also favorites heading into the pageant:

  • Brazil (+600)
  • El Salvador (+600)
  • Portugal (+600)
  • Puerto Rico (+600)
  • United States (+600)
  • Columbia (+700)

However, if we're being completely honest, in a field of more than 90 contestants from all corners of the world, does it even matter to be pegged a favorite beforehand

Take last year for example. Catriona Gray of the Phillippines took the 2018 crown. Do you know what her pre-contest odds were? A staggering +6600! A meager one-dollar bet on Gray a year ago would've netted you a winning payout of $66.

Moral of the story? If you find a darkhorse pick that you like, it might be worth it to throw a few dollars their way based on value alone. It's a low-risk, high-reward proposition after all

Who Will Win Miss Universe 2019?

An event with this many contestants is a complete crapshoot — anything can literally happen. Trying to pick out a winner among a crowded group can perhaps best be done by evaluating recent history.

For one, which region has had the most success in recent memory? That would the Americas and Carribean, who have won eight of the last 14 events. Asia has the next most wins at five, while Europe has just one.

With that said, we're ruling out European countries immediately (sorry, Portugal). Something's just fishy when you have a win percentage of seven over the last 14 years.

We're zoning-in on the Americas. There's been one country in that region that has spit out pageant winner after winner — Venezuela

Over the past 11 years, the country has claimed eight major pageant tiles. Three of those have been Miss Universe in 2008, 2009, and 2013.

Right now, Venezuela is +800 to win again. Given their history, that's an extremely valuable bet in our book. Throw some money on them (along with a few dark horses), sit back, and enjoy the show!

Betting pick to make: Venezuela (+800)

How To Watch

Now that you have a betting strategy, you can follow all the pageantry live on Sunday, December 8th. Miss Universe will air on FOX network starting at 7 pm EST. The event is happening in the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

That does it for our Miss Universe 2019 preview. If you're looking for a sportsbook to place your bet in, one of our partners below can help with that. Getting set up with an account and depositing money into it is quick and painless — it's seriously just moments away.
