Given the upsets that've occurred over the past two weeks, we're staying away from games with huge spreads. We need another week to see if this underdog trend is here to stay or not. Nonetheless, there are solid bets scattered throughout week 11, but these next three wagers are our favorites:
Against The Spread: Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
The best NFL betting sites are playing this Green Bay at Minnesota spread relatively safe. Here are the current betting odds:
Any discussion about a betting pick HAS to start with the Green Bay defense. In case you needed any more evidence to suggest the Packers' D is scary good, you got it last weekend. For the first time in the Russell Wilson era, the Seahawks were shut out by Green Bay. In three weeks against the NFL's best quarterbacks — Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes, and Wilson — the Chesseheads allowed a mere 37 points. Wow!
And now they draw a road matchup with Kirk Cousins, a quarterback that's, well, not nearly as elite as the aforementioned three. But here's the thing that helps the Packers' case even more in this matchup: they're extremely familiar with Cousins due to their inter-division rivalry. We suppose the same goes for Cousin (he won't see any defensive packages he hasn't seen before), however, we have more faith in the Green Bay defense to shine on Sunday.
So as you can probably guess, our wager is on the Cheeseheads. On top of its stout defense, we also expect its offensive to get back into gear versus the Vikings. Unlike the weeks before, there should be no drag from injuries or COVID-19 sitouts.
Against The Spread: Cincinnati Bengals at Las Vegas Raiders
Initiate the Raiders annual mid-season collapse! Heck, initiate is the wrong word because we're already in the midst of it. Las Vegas has looked horrendous in two straight losses versus the Eagles and Chiefs — games in which it was outscored 64-30. These recent results are why we are stunned the against-the-spread line between the Bengals and Raiders is only one point.
We really believe Las Vegas is spinning out of control (and into a sure-fire rebuild over the offseason). Its offense has lost its spark without head coach Jon Gruden and deep threat Henry Ruggs. Its defense remains an abyss (as it has been for years now). In that drubbing to the Chiefs, the Raiders' defense was shredded for 512 yards and allowed 12-of-18 conversions on third and fourth down.
Helping matters more for the Bengals is it was off last weekend due to a bye week. So Cincy had an extra week to scheme up ways to use its fledgling Joe Burrow-to-JaMarr-Chase connection to do damage to the Raiders' leaky secondary. We believe that's what in fact happens as Cincinnati steals this game, covering the one-point spread in the process.
Over/Under 49.5 Points: New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Much to the dismay of casual bettors but to the delight of bookies, the reigning champions have now lost in back-to-back weeks against "lesser" opponents (New Orleans and Washington). Tampa Bay remains one of the favorites to win it all at sportsbooks for Super Bowl betting, but still, they suddenly look "beatable", which sets up an interesting betting situation when Giants go at the Buccaneers this weekend.
We have a sense this will be Tampa's bounce-back game. We mean, it HAS to be doesn't it? Tom Brady has only lost three games in a row once in his brilliant career (way back in 2002) and we can't imagine he lets that happen against his old foil, the Giants. Not at home, especially.
The game spread is 11.5 points, which we're staying far away from. But the game total is intriguing. Brady was the MVP favorite two weeks ago and he should get back on track in this outing versus a suspect New York defense. Then there's the Giants which had two entire weeks to prepare for this matchup as it was on a bye last weekend. Both are signals to us that points will not be hard to come by in this one. Take the over!
