Arizona Cardinals (-3.5) AT San Francisco 49ers, Over/Under: 42.0
The complexion, after news broke this week that the Cardinals will be without starting quarterback Carson Palmer due to a concussion, changed drastically. San Francisco lost one of their main defensive weapons, linebacker NaVorro Bowman, this week though to an ACL injury. The 49ers are coming off a 24-17 loss to the Cowboys, but the Cardinals are also struggling as well. Arizona is off to a slow start this year as they are 1-3 and just fell 17-13 to a surprising Rams squad.
Expect this to be a low scoring affair as the lockdown Cardinals will most likely hold 49ers running back Carlos Hyde (five rushing touchdowns so far on the year) in check. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been mediocre in the his first year as the San Francisco starter, but was unable to get past the lackluster Cowboys defense. So let's not expect him to put on a big show against Arizona.
Pick: Under and Arizona (-3.5)
New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers (-7), Over/Under: 48.0
Following a shellacking of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Steelers are riding a huge wave of momentum as they prepare to host the Jets. Pittsburgh won 43-14 over a decent Chiefs squad while the Jets fell to 1-3 following a 27-17 loss to the Seahawks.
In this case you definitely want to wager with the hot hand. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger obviously has a huge weapon in wide receiver Antonio Brown, but the return of running back Le'Veon Bell makes the Steelers offense almost unplayable. Between the combined powers of the Killer B's (Big Ben, Bell and Brown), Pittsburgh has a very strong edge. In our opinion, they should be favored by more.
However, don't count out the Jets just yet. While New York has struggled this year, their only win did come on the road (a 37-31 victory over the Bills) and they have a lot to play for. Unfortunately, we don't think it will matter against the high-octane Steelers.
Pick: Steelers (-7) and pick the Over
Cincinnati Bengals (-1) at Dallas Cowboys, Over/Under: 45.0
The 3-1 Cowboys are coming off a 24-17 win over the 49ers on the road and will look to improve on that record against an inconsistent Bengals team. While Cincy just knocked off the Dolphins on the road, the Bengals have not been able to string together multiple wins. Running back Ezekiel Elliott has been on a tear lately in his rookie season, accumulating over 400 rushing yards through four games.
Wide receiver A.J. Green was a wrecking ball (173 receiving yards and one touchdown) against the Dolphins and will be counted on again when they square off in Dallas. Look for the Bengals and Cowboys to battle in an extremely tight, low-scoring affair.
Pick: Dallas (+1) and pick the Under
