Lightning vs Canadiens Game 4 Betting Picks
Given how the series has gone thus far, it’s no surprise that online oddsmakers are hammering Tampa Bay to clinch the championship in Game 4. Despite being on the road, the Lightning are heavily favored to win Monday’s game.
Team | BetOnline | BetUS |
---|---|---|
Tampa Bay Lightning | -165 | -155 |
Montreal Canadiens | +149 | +135 |
If you’re a hardcore NHL bettor, you’ll want to pounce on Game 4 as it may be your last betting opportunity in the league for months. That’s at least how we’re approaching the potential series-clinching game and here’s who we’re backing with money!
NHL Stanley Cup Game 4 Moneyline Pick
We hate to do it, but we must take a victory lap. It was only a week ago that we said the Lightning were clearly more talented than the Habs. In the same article, we pointed at Tampa’s four-man scoring threat of Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Alex Killorn, and Steven Stamkos as game-changers in the series, which has been the case.
But even then, we didn’t think it would be this easy. Not only has Montreal dropped three straight games, but they haven’t been competitive whatsoever. The Habs have been outscored 14-5 in the series. Now Montreal are on the verge of being the first team swept in the Stanley Cup Finals in 23 long years.
And that’s exactly what we’re betting on to happen. Look, Montreal is a feel-good story. Here’s a team that canned their head coach mid-season and snuck into the postseason with the lowest points percentage (.527) of any playoff team. All this before one upset after another in the postseason (sorry, Maple Leafs and Golden Knights). But stories don’t win championships — talent does.
And the gap in talent between the Lightning and the Canadiens is the size of the Gulf Coast right next to Tampa. Not only do we think Tampa Bay wins Game 4, we think they again roll to victory. You may get more “bang for your buck” by betting the Lightning spread, which is -1.5 goals.
NHL Stanley Cup Game 4 Prop: Margin of Victory
If this is really the final NHL game of the wacky, pandemic-affected season, then you’ll also want to toy with prop bets. How ‘bout this one — the margin of victory in Game 4? Since we’re of the belief the Lightning will be victorious, we’ve included their betting lines below only (though, there are odds available for the Canadiens margin of victory, too):
Team | BetUS |
---|---|
Lightning by 1 | +220 |
Lightning by 2 | +450 |
Lightning by 3 | +650 |
Lightning by 4 | +850 |
Lightning by 5+ | +950 |
Here’s the margin of victory in Tampa’s first three games: four goals, two, and three. That’s a three-goal winning average during the series for the Lightning.
In that case, +650 for a three-goal win seems appetizing. But you know what? We don’t think the Habs will roll over quite that easy — not on their home ice facing a do-or-die situation. Yes, they’re far less talented than Tampa Bay, but as you’ve seen this entire season, Montreal has a never-say-die attitude unlike anyone else in the league.
At the very least, the Canadiens keep this game interesting. Maybe not a one-goal defeat, but two seems reasonable given the firepower on the Lightning front attack. And with that, Tampa wins back-to-back titles — only the second team to do so in the NHL this century.
While we’d love for Montreal to win and extend the playoff series (plus your betting opportunities), we think your NHL betting days are over until October. But hey, it’s never too early to start planning for the 2021-22 season! When it does roll around, you’ll need a trusty bookmaker to make bets. How ‘bout one of the sportsbooks listed below?
Any one of the bookmakers underneath will be your go-to for great prices on NHL betting around-the-clock. Spreads, moneylines, over/unders, props, futures — you name it and the NHL wager is likely carried at the betting sites featured in the table.
But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Another perk of using these sites is the sign-up bonuses. If you’re new to using the bookie, you can earn a hefty payday upon creating an account (and depositing money into it). By hefty, we’re talking thousands of dollars in free play! Thousands!
Full site bonus details are listed below. If you can’t wait until the next NHL regular season, you can always take advantage of the deals right now. The free play can be used on any sport, whether that’s the NBA Finals or the looming Olympic Games (which includes ice hockey, of course). Click around the table below to get started!
