The college football season is already flying by, as we've already hit Week 5 of the season. Several teams have impressed early on this year, while other teams have been a major disappointment. At this point in the campaign, we now have a good feeling of who will be pushing for a spot in the College Football Playoff. With that said, Ohio State is the NCAAF favorite to win the 2024 National Championship.
This shouldn't come as a surprise at all, as the Buckeyes have looked brilliant through their first four games. Ohio State is a perfect 4-0 and they've barely broken a sweat in taking down the competition. Last season, OSU saw Michigan win the natty, which is something that fans hated. Now, they're focused on being the latest Big Ten team to capture the glory.

"We wanted to play fast today, we felt like that was the right approach," head coach Ryan Day said after the recent win over Marshall. "We don't always play that way because we don't want to put the defense in a bad position, but I thought we had a good tempo to us on offense."

Carson Beck and the Georgia Bulldogs are our pick to win the National Championship
It shouldn't come as a surprise here, but Carson Beck and the Georgia Bulldogs are our pick to win the National Championship. UGA is no stranger to winning the CFP, as they recently won things in back-to-back seasons. In 2023, though, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan were able to get the job done, beating Washington in the title contest.
This season, Beck has been impressive for UGA and he has plenty of NFL general managers excited about him entering the draft for next spring. Several NFL Mock Drafts already have Beck as the projected No. 1 pick in the first round. Beck is that good and he could prove to be a franchise signal-caller for a new team. He'll have a lot to prove with Alabama up next. Coach Kirby Smart is ready for the task at hand.

“We have a really good offense, we have people around them and we’ve got a good quarterback,” Smart said in a recent interview. “We’ve just got to go out and execute - clean up what you do, do it at a higher rate, make good decisions, communicate better.”
Per the oddsmakers, Georgia has the No. 2 football betting odds to win it all at +400. While Ohio State may be the top contender, UGA has proven way too many times that they're too good to be counted out. A lot of fans would love to see the Buckeyes and Bulldogs meet for all of the marbles. That'd be a fun showdown, but we'd stick with Georgia as our selection to come out on top when it's all said and done.
Which teams will end up in the College Football Playoff?
With the midway point of the year sneaking up on us, a lot of fans are wondering which teams will end up in the College Football Playoff? It's important to remember that this season, there are more than four teams who will make it in - this time around, 12 teams will be in the hunt after the regular season for the CFP.
There are certainly some sleepers, with the list including Washington State. The Cougs are 4-0 on the year, taking down Portland State, Washington, Texas Tech and San Jose State. Quarterback John Mateer has been unreal, while the defense stepped up big against Texas Tech and Washington. Wazzu has a massive game against Boise State this weekend that could make or break their chances.
Other underdog teams include Boise State, USC, Clemson, Notre Dame and others. Schools like Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, Oregon and Alabama feel like locks, but you never know how things might play out towards the end of the season.
From our chair, we think it would be a lot of fun for a smaller school like Washington State to sneak in, but a Power 4 team will be looking to prevent that from going down.
