Oscars 2020 Odds & Picks
The biggest night in Hollywood — the annual Academy Awards — is on Sunday, February 9. The very best films of 2019 will be honored and we have free betting picks to go along with it! So grab some popcorn, read our advice, and reap the rewards come Oscar’s night!
Just days away from the 92nd Academy Awards, the Oscar Best Picture odds have these three films as betting frontrunners, per online sportsbooks:
- 1917 (-230)
- Parasite (+250)
- Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (+800)
Of course, Best Picture is just one award with Oscar betting odds available. We've picked out a few more bang-for-your-buck Oscar odds 2020 worth wagering on.
Before we give out those free betting picks, it's worth mentioning that you can earn hundreds — if not thousands — of dollars in free play just by signing up to a sportsbook. These are called welcome bonuses and can be found at many top betting sites.
Best Picture Odds
Earlier we mentioned the three favorites to win this award, but here's the rest of the candidates, too:
- Joker (+1600)
- Jojo Rabbit (+6000)
- The Irishman (+6000)
- Marriage Story (+12500)
- Little Women (+15000)
- Ford v Ferrari (+20000)
We could argue all day about which movie was "better", but that's all subjective. If you want to predict a winner, you're better off looking at historical trends.
In the Best Picture category, there's one tried-and-true trend: earning at least a Best Editing nomination is quintessential to winning Best Picture. Matter of fact, only one movie (Birdman in 2015) in the past 40 years has won Best Picture without a Best Editing nod.
While Best Picture has nine nominees, Best Editing has just five — and that list excludes Best Picture candidates such as 1917, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Marriage Story, and Little Women. This leaves an opening for Parasite to sneak in and win the category in a semi-upset!
Betting pick: Parasite (+250)
Best Actor Odds
Betting odds for this key award are as lopsided as can be:
- Joaquin Phoenix; Joker (-2500)
- Adam Driver; Marriage Story (+1000)
- Antonio Banderas; Pain & Glory (+1700)
- Jonathan Pryce; The Two Popes (+2000)
- Leonardo Dicaprio; Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (+2000)
Ironically so, an actor who played the Joker character before, Heath Ledger, won Best Actor for his performance. Can Phoenix make it a repeat as the famed Batman villain?
Without question, yes. Phoenix has already stockpiled awards for his personification of the "agent of chaos" clown and an Oscar will be the crowning achievement.
Betting pick: Joaquin Phoenix (-2500)
Will Brad Pitt Bring A Date To the Oscars?
Alright, we couldn't help ourselves with this one:
- No (-900)
- Yes (+500)
In all likelihood, Pitt will also win Best Supporting Actor award (he's currently -2400 to win). However, you're better off wagering this one if you're trying to get the most value!
Despite the persistent rumors of a Jennifer Aniston-Pitt romance rekindling, we're not buying it — at least, publically. Pitt has been making the award show rounds solo (unless you count his Hollywood co-stars) and that'll remain the case here when the spotlight is brighter than ever.
Betting pick: No (-900)
