Not sure what and who to bet on in NFL Week 7? Read this then cause we’re offering up three free NFL bets. We analyzed all three week’s matchups and settled on these three picks!
Against The Spread: Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
Who remembers the two games these division rivals played a season ago? Both went down to the wire, but finished with the same result — a Kansas City 3-point win. Despite that, oddsmakers are giving the Chiefs extra cushion against the Chargers in the spread. Here are the current odds available at the best NFL betting sites:
Kansas City is in a weird spot. On the surface, things appear to be going according to plan for the Super Bowl champs, who have won five in a row. But an inspection under the hood reveals some potential issues: a KC offense that’s missing the spark we’ve associated them with ever since Patrick Mahomes came onto the scene.
The Chiefs are averaging 24.5 points per game after a middling 19-point performance against a Broncos team that allowed 70 points in one game earlier this year. Red-zone inefficiency and turnovers have especially hamstrung them. Perhaps the most concerning issue of all? KC has a meager 12 points all season long in the fourth quarter.
We’re not confident Kansas City can roll the Chargers here. LA is 2-3 this year, but all three losses were razor close. LA’s defeats have been by a combined eight points against playoff contenders in Miami, Tennessee, and Dallas. Our money says the Bolts cover the spread. Like usually, they’ll likely lose from a boneheaded play down the stretch but hey, a cover is a cover.
Over/Under 52 points: Miami Dolphins at Philadelphia Eagles
The Sunday Night primetime clash is the Week 7 matchup we all want to see. Both sides are Super Bowl contenders after 5-1 starts. Plus, it’s the first time former Alabama teammates, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa, face off. We all remember the 2018 college football championship game which changed both their career trajectories. It’s all led to here and we’re most enthralled with betting the Miami-Philly over/under. Here’s where the line is pegged:
This game pits two of the most explosive offenses in the league against one another, hence the high over/under. The Dolphins and Eagles are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in yards gained so far this year. However, there’s a massive gap between the two. Get this, Miami is averaging 103 more yards than runner-up Philly.
That speaks to how special this Phins' offense is. We keep expecting them to “come down to earth” and they keep saying no. This past weekend, Miami put up 40 points for the fourth time this season. Tua leads quarterbacks in just about every statistical category and is also the betting favorite to win MVP now. Philly’s defense is legit so we don’t expect another 40-whopper but the Dolphins won’t be completely stopped either.
At the same time, we expect a bounce-back performance for Hurts, who threw three interceptions last Sunday. He’s bouncing back for two reasons. One, Hurts is a top-10 quarterback despite the bad outing. Two, this Miami defense is vulnerable. Vulnerable because they’ve been shredded against good competition and it’s best cornerback, Xavier Howard, is expected to miss this game with an injury.
We fully expect a shoot-out atmosphere come Sunday Night. If so, betting the over makes a whole lot of sense.
Against The Spread: Cleveland Browns at Indianapolis Colts
We’ll be honest, we had to do a double-take when we saw the Cleveland-Indianapolis spread. Double take because it’s only two points. That seems a little low given recent events.
The Browns proved they possess either the first or second-best defense in the NFL. The Jim Schwartz-led unit has allowed a mere 48 points in five games. Cleveland is fresh off a 19-17 upset of San Francisco (with starter Deshaun Watson) , who most consider the best team in the NFL. After that type of statement, we’d expect bookies to juice their lines a little more but that’s not the case this week.
Then we have the Colts, who will likely have backup Gardner Minshew at quarterback the rest of the way. They’re ready to shut down Anthony Richardson after a short but sensational rookie campaign. Minshew is a fine player, but he’s in for a tough outing against this Browns’ D. We’re confidently putting money on Cleveland to cover in this one.
