After a long wait, the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris has finally arrived. This is something that people have had circled on their calendars for a while and thankfully, the wait is no more. There are countless exciting events this summer, but for this piece, we're taking a look at things on the soccer field, with an incredible amount of talent ready to put on a show. With that said, the USA is the favorite to win women's soccer gold at the 2024 Olympics. Will they get the job done?
Team USA is riding high and they're also looking to wipe away the terrible memories from the 2023 World Cup. This team is led by Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman, Naomi Girma, Rose Lavelle, Mal Swanson, Lindsay Horan and others. In a recent friendly over Mexico leading up to the summer games, the USA beat Mexico. Head coach Emma Hayes was left impressed with what her players were able to get done.
Olympics women's soccer odds | |||
---|---|---|---|
USA to win | +175 | +175 | +175 |
Spain to win | +200 | +200 | +200 |
France to win | +500 | +500 | +500 |
Germany to win | +1400 | +1400 | +1400 |
"If we use (the Concacaf Gold Cup) as a reference point, I think it's fair to say this game was much more measured, much more controlled," Hayes said after the win over Mexico recently at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey. "We limited them to very little, so it's a step in the right direction."
There's a lot of pressure on the red, white and blue to deliver. Will they be able to get the job done? According to the best sports betting sites, including the reliable Bovada sportsbook review, the USA holds +150 soccer betting odds to win the gold medal. On paper, the USA is the best team and they're going to hope to silence a lot of their haters. However, we're going in a different direction for our selection in this case.

Spain is our pick to win women's soccer gold at the Paris Olympics
For this tournament, Spain is our pick to win women's soccer gold at the Paris Olympics. We have a feeling that things are going to come down to the USA and Spain in the Final. If that were to happen, it'd be a dream scenario. While yes, the USA enters the tournament with a ton of confidence, the same can be said for Spain. They're one of the best teams out of Europe and they're loaded with star quality.
The list of incredible talent includes Aitana Bonmatí, Laia Aleixandria,Patri Guijarro and others. Bonmati has been unreal to watch, and she sure has taken her game to the next level with FC Barcelona. Bonmati is going to be one of the main players to watch for Spain, as they're hoping to bring home the gold. Should they get that job done, it would come shortly after the men's team was able to win the Euros 2024 title - Spain beat England in that final.

Spain, which won the 2023 Women's World Cup, has a great team and they have amazing coaching in their favor as well. According to the top soccer betting sites, the Spanish side holds +200 soccer betting odds to win the gold medal. Something tells us it will be either Spain or the USA to be the ones celebrating. We'd also love to see them go head-to-head in the final. Having said all of that, we're indeed going with Spain as our pick. It will be interesting to see if that happens or not.
France is the favorite to win the men's soccer gold
Elsewhere, France is the favorite to win the men's soccer gold. It's important to remember that for the men's tournament, it's the U-23 side and not the veterans that will be putting on a show. While he's still a young talent, Kylian Mbappe is 25 years old and he will not be playing in this tournament. However, other young French stars will be playing and they're going to hope to win it all for their country. There are plenty of star players for France, but they're not the only loaded side.
Spain is a big-time player for the men's side, while Argentina, Morocco and Paraguay should also be watched. The USA is hoping to make a splash over in France too. A lot of people are hoping for France and Argentina to meet in the final. It would be a lot of fun if that were to happen and it'd surely be a great game. So, who would win if that ends up being the case? We're going with Argentina as our pick. Only time will tell if that happens or not, but it could end up going down.
