Why Floyd Mayweather will win

Entering the twilight of his career, some are doubting the 40-year-old Floyd Mayweather against Conor McGregor. Not so fast, though. Here’s why Money should be your pick to stay undefeated come August 26.
Put all of your cash on Mayweather
How in the world is Floyd Mayweather a modest -550 favorite to defeat Conor McGregor? Do people really buy the narrative that the aging Mayweather doesn't have anything left in the tank? Is McGregor that great of a promoter that he's convinced the masses that he — without any boxing experience — will defeat one of the greatest ever to step in the ring?
We're here to set the record straight: Mayweather will win with ease come August 26. We repeat, victory with ease. He might not even break a sweat.
You simply can't overlook McGregor's inexperience. It doesn't matter how great he is in the octagon, it's night and day compared to boxing. McGregor challenging Mayweather is like Michael Phelps going against Usain Bolt in a sprint. Word-class skill in one sport doesn't guarantee success in another. At all.
There's only one way Mayweather might possibly lose against McGregor, and that's if he's knocked out cold. But that's a giant if.
For one, Mayweather doesn't have to worry about takedowns or kicks. The possibility of either has feigned many of McGregor's adversary's into leaving themselves open for a flush punch. All Mayweather has to worry about in this one is McGregor's left and right fist — and that's a huge advantage.
Furthermore, the striking power that's made McGregor a force in the UFC will be negated heavily in this bout. Right now the matchup will be contested with eight ounces gloves, a far cry from the four-ounce mitts used in the UFC. The smaller the gloves, the more powerful they are.
The heavier gloves will also test McGregor's stamina. He's been known to wear himself out in five-round, 25-minute UFC battles with smaller gloves. Now imagine McGregor with at least double-sized gloves in a 12-round, 36-minute fight. He's going to gas himself out.
Nevermind, McGregor's own issues. Mayweather has never once been knocked to the canvas during his career — minus taking a knee in 2001 against Carlos Hernandez, but not a real knockout. Good luck to McGregor landing that miracle punch.
Mayweather is the worst possible opponent for McGregor. A defensive mastermind that can duck and dodge a barrage of punches.
The reputation that follows Mayweather, the one where he avoids great fighters, just isn't accurate. Over the course of his two-decade career, he's topped legendary boxers like Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Manny Pacquiao, among others. Matter of fact, all but one of those wins came via unanimous decision.
If those guys — who are some of the all-time greats in their weight class — couldn't test Mayweather, what will make McGregor any different?
The age difference factor is being overblown, too. Eleven years separate Mayweather and McGregor. Big whoop. Have people forgotten how badly Mayweather outclassed Canelo Alvarez, who is currently the best pound-for-pound boxer not named Mayweather. Alvarez was 13 years younger than Mayweather — and that didn't make the slightest difference.
Sure, Mayweather's been away from the ring for the two years. But there's zero evidence that he's regressed. It's the opposite actually.
After a shaky first fight against Marcos Maidana, Mayweather rebounded and looked far better in their rematch. His last fight against Andre Berto was a cruise control victory as well. Mayweather's age is nothing more than a selling point for the bout.
As great as a prizefighter Mayweather is, he's an even better promoter. Mayweather wants you to believe McGregor has a chance in this one, even though he doesn't.
Mayweather wins with ease once August 26 comes around.
