We are now in the second part of the Major League Baseball season and several teams are proving they're going to be serious contenders to push for the title. One of those teams no question are the New York Yankees, who remain in first place of the AL East standings despite a small dip in form. Coming up this weekend, a big series with Detroit is on the way. With that said, the Yankees are road favorites vs. the Tigers for a big Friday showdown.
Will they be able to come out on top? While the pitching matchups are yet to be determined, it's looking like Gerrit Cole will be getting the start for this one. He last pitched on Aug. 10 and the Yankees' last game before going to Detroit is Aug. 14 - there's going to be no need to rush Cole to the mound on four days rest, which is why an Aug. 16 showing makes a ton of sense for him. He'll look to make a statement in this one too.

Taking a look at things on offense, the over should hit between the Yankees and Tigers in this one. Detroit may not be known for its power, but they can sure put up some runs when they need to. We all know that's the case for the Yankees, as they have one of the most loaded lineups in the bigs. Things are of course highlighted by the unreal trio of Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton.
Judge is once again playing at an MVP level, while Soto is looking incredible in his first season with the Bronx Bombers. Soto is going to be looking for a monster contract extension this offseason, with Yankees fans hoping that Brian Cashman will make him happy. Until then, Judge, Soto and Stanton are going to hope to keep hitting some monster homers, with Detroit next up on the list. With Judge, he's been on a tear and NY supporters are loving every minute of it.

“I try to remind myself every now and then that I take him for granted,” Boone said of Judge recently. “His greatness - I'm getting to watch over there every day what he is able to do and be just the player that he has become. It is remarkable.”
