An original AFL team, the Chargers were a power right from that league’s first season in 1960. The Chargers played in the first AFL Championship Game and in five of the first six AFL title games, winning it all in 1963 via a resonding 51-10 victory over the Boston Patriots. During their AFL history, the Chargers endured just one losing season, but things went south following the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. As a member of the AFC West, the Chargers endured seven successive losing seasons from 1970-76.
The skid included a 2-11-1 campaign in 1973 and a 2-12 season in 1975 in which they won their last two games to avoid becoming the first team in NFL history to go 0-14.
The original owner of the Chargers was Paris Hilton’s grandfather. Lamar Hunt, longtime owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, convinced Barron Hilton of the Hilton Hotel empire to put an AFL franchise in Los Angeles for the AFL’s first season in 1960.
Even though the Chargers made it to the AFL final, Hilton opted to relocate the team in 1961 to San Diego rather than but heads for a fanbase with the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams. With the assistance of San Diego Union sports editor Jack Murphy, Hilton helped to get Qualcomm Stadium, the team’s former home, constructed in 1965.
In the late 1970s under head coach Don Coryell, the Chargers finally found their legs and won three straight AFC West titles from 1979-81 and made four successive playoff appearances from 1979-82.
Another period of success was enjoyed from 1992-95, with three playoff spots earned and the franchise’s first and so far only Super Bowl appearance.
The Chargers are now back in LA. Is this relocation permanent?

How To Make Money Betting On Los Angeles Chargers
If the Chargers want to get back on track, two areas in need of improvement are the running game and the offensive line.
Melvin Gordon, their 2015 first round draft pick, struggled as a rookie with just 3.5 yards per game, five fumbles, and no touchdowns on the ground, his season ultimately sidetracked by a micro fracture to the knee that required surgery.
Expect the Chargers to be a middle-of-the-road team for years to come. Philip Rivers is an experienced quarterback who knows how to keep his team in games. But they aren't good enough to be considered futures bets. Pick the Chargers on a game-to-game basis.
Check the head-to-head history with their forthcoming opponent and make sure to find out which players are in the lineup. Injuries are a key area when taking NFL bets into consideration.
