Spain are the reigning European Champions after winning the Euros in 2008, the World Cup in 2010 and then the European Championships again in 2012. This incredible achievement is the result of Spain’s belated success as a football nation. Before 2008, they had only won a solitary Euro Cup. Now they have four major titles. Can they win the Euros three times in a row? Spain, or The Red Fury as they used to be known, were first established as an international team in 1920, and have qualified for 23 out of 34 tournaments since then.

They won their first World Cup in 2010 after an Andres Iniesta strike gave them a late victory against Holland in the final.

Spain’s first victory was the 1964 European Championships. Spain beat the Soviet Union (now Russia) 2-1 in the final, but they would not win another trophy for 44 years.

Spain hosted the World Cup in 1982, but suffered a shock defeat to Northern Ireland when a solitary Gerry Armstrong strike was enough to see the minnows triumph 1-0. Watch that amazing moment here:

Spain couldn’t buy a tournament win when it really mattered  and this run continued when an elbow cost them in 1992, before 2002 saw South Korea eliminate the favored Spaniards.

Spain, after four decades of waiting,  won the 2008 European Championships in the middle of a 35-game unbeaten run. They won Euro 2012 by thrashing Italy 4-0 in the final. Fernando Torres ran riot over all comers, eventually winning the Golden Boot as the tournament’s highest goal scorer.

How To Make Money Betting On Spain National Team

Spain are one of the favorites to win the Euro 2016 Championships. They are the reigning champions of Europe and are currently the sixth-best team, according to FIFA, in the world.

They have some weaknesses, however. Spain are now extremely vulnerable to pace, and modern football is so focused on pace that having a slower defense can cost you dearly.

The odds for Spain winning the group, -175, aren't enough to run to the bookies. We would also dissuade you from backing them to win the tournament at +500.

They are one of the favorites for highest-scoring team, +600, which we have difficulty recommending, especially as they're playing in an ultra-competitive group that contains Croatia, Turkey and Czech Republic.

Everybody is lining up to beat Spain at Euro 2016, so be brave and follow suit.

For a recent guide to how they are playing against opponents indicative of the Euro 2016 quality they will face in June (and probably not July) check out the action for their recent friendly against Italy:

Spain made it to Euro 2016 with some terrific performances, albeit against weaker opponents. They scored four great goals in the qualifier against Luxembourg. This is what Spain can do to teams if their creative players are given license to express themselves:
